By the end of June 2019, 146 Foreign-invested Telecommunications Enterprises had been approved. Among them, 103 are licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and 43 are approved by the Shanghai Communications Administration (enterprises in Shanghai Free Trade Zone). Of the 146 Foreign-invested Telecommunications enterprises, 103 enterprises licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology have 165 business licenses; 43 enterprises in the FTA approved by the Shanghai Communications Administration have 50 business licenses. Online data processing and transaction processing business, information service business and domestic call center business ranked the top three, and the three business licenses accounted for 82% of the total number of business licenses issued. Foreign-funded telecommunications enterprises are registered in 15 provinces (districts and municipalities). Among them, the number of registered enterprises in Beijing, shanghai and Guangzhou is far ahead, accounting for 76%. Of the 146 Foreign-funded Telecommunications enterprises, more than half of their foreign capital comes from Hong Kong, followed by the United States and Japan, accounting for 77% of the total.
